Subject: Something Positive

I was elected to the board of directors of the North Carolina Railway Museum, operator of the New Hope Valley Railway. The railway is an excursion line that runs through the pines of central North Carolina.

I, too, have some of the problems of old age, but I think and act positively. I try to stay active — No! I don’t run marathons! — and I don’t do more than I can handle. I know my limitations and try to keep within those parameters.
I think what a curmudgeon I will be when I hit the century mark. I can hardly wait. Those whippersnappers will get an earful or more.
For those of you that have good mobility, all I can say is “keep on truckin’.”

Well, I will write about my exciting life.  (wrong!)  I sold my house about 10 years after my husband died.  I moved in with my son and daughter-in-law.  Very special and good people.   I made an apartment in their basement.  I have a living room, kitchen and bedroom.  Plus laundry facilities.  I love my little “nest.”  I do miss my house that had an indoor swimming pool, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, etc.  Too big for me to stay myself.  I do wish many times, I was still there.  But I couldn’t ask for better kids.  They are so good to me, etc.  They do so much for me, etc.  Life is good for this old lady!

Hey!  How nice to hear from Barb.  If you agree, why not send us some up-to-date information on yourself for Dennis and me to share with the rest of the class of 58?

Subject: TMI update
As much as I wanted to try to come to the luncheon in October, traveling (alone) is a challenge.  (I have ulcerative colitis).  And the cousins I used to visit are busy with grandchildren or not well.  In September, I was diagnosed with A Fib, not a BIG deal, but to be brief, a day later I slid out of my bed, landed on the floor and couldn’t get up!  I ended up in the hospital for a week, and then to rehab for 4 weeks.  Nothing is broken and since Oct. 23rd, I’m at home.  After having nearly all my meds changed, I am feeling much better.  Are these REALLY the “golden years”??
Thanks for the pictures and notes from class mates.  I enjoy reading them.  Hope you are well and getting in a holiday spirit.  “HI” to all.  Love,  Barb

Thanks, Dennis.  I appreciate you eMailing me the photo.

You did a great job and didn’t waste any time posting the photos to the website.  The open mic was a super idea as well as the hat contest.   I get a kick out of your tomatoes and raffle.  What a hoot!  My thanks goes to the committee !

I had a great time and this was an exceptional gathering.  Nice to see you and Lola interacting.  Lovely couple you are.

Indeed, we do have a very special class.

Good fun!

All the best.

Thanks, again.
